2015 Summary

2015 was a busy year both on the farm and the campsite, and left little time for us to update the website!

Early on in the year we lost our Oilseed Rape crop to a pest called Flea Beetle, as did many farmers in the local area. Having tried everything available to beat the pests, we had to re-drill the land with a crop of Peas instead. Luckily these grew well and were harvested before too much of the wet and stormy weather in the summer could harm them.

Harvest was with us before we knew it and the Wheat and Barley were also safely gathered in before the rain set in at the end of August.

Unfortunately we also said Goodbye to Frank and Bruno, our two Red Poll Steers, but have welcomed the girls! We now have a pair of Hereford Heifers in the field, which are yet to be named.

The Campsite has gone from Strength to strength this season, and we have welcomed back many returning Visitors, along with meeting lots of New faces.

We have had an enjoyable 2015, taking all of the highs and lows of farming and making the most of our time here at Lynchets.

We are looking forward to 2016 and all that it brings.

February 2015

Into the new year at Lynchets and things got chilly! Frank and Bruno have got their thick hairy coats back, and have toughed it out in the field all winter. There has been snow, rain and frosty mornings, but these seem to be giving way to sunny days in recent weeks, which has been warmly welcomed.

With brighter and longer days, we have had chance to get out and enjoy the fresh air, cutting all of the hedges and tidying up around the farm, ready for the campsite to re-open in March. The crops are all looking well, and we are looking forward to when Spring has Sprung!!

August 2014

Here in Cambridgeshire, we have been blessed this summer with an early and long warm spell, bringing Harvest early! Without being rained off too much, we have got all of the crops in and harvest is now all done for 2014! The ground work is now going on ready to start the cycle again and get next years crops in, in September.

May 2014
With the Seasons due to change again soon, from Spring to Summer, the crops are all looking well and harvest is creeping up once again. We have had a busy start to the year with a mixture of wheat, Barley and Oats currently being grown.
The latest news here at Lynchets is the completion of the toilet and shower block, ready for the summer season! We have worked hard to create both toilet and shower facilities for our guests staying with us on the campsite.

April 2014

Some excitement came to Lynchets at Easter time with the arrival of Frank and Bruno- Two 1 year old Red Poll Steers! The boys are currently grazing happily in the paddock and love seeing all that's going on .
